Bríet Ísis Elfar

Bríet Ísis Elfar was born in Reykjavik 22 March 1999, known mononymously as Bríet, is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who meticulously crafts every aspect of her work. She directs her own music videos, designs her costumes, and serves as the creative force behind the art direction of her projects, ensuring that her artistic vision is fully realized in every detail.

Bríet studied at Menntaskólinn við Hamrahlíð. She began performing at off-venue concerts at Iceland Airwaves at the age of 15 in addition to singing at jazz bars. Her 2021 album Kveðja, Bríet was a critical and commercial triumph, earning her the prestigious Album of the Year award at the Icelandic Music Awards, where she also won Singer of the Year and Lyricist of the Year.

She joined forces with Birnir on a new album in 2024 titled 1000 orð (“1000 Words”), which was selected as one of the albums of the year at the Icelandic Music Awards. In a short film accompanying the album, directed by Erlendur Sveinsson, they step outside their comfort zone and explore a new sonic world, different from what they are known for.

The song is part of the EP ‘Bríet – Act 1’, a three-part EP series that Bríet has been crafting over the past few years, an ambitious new era that reflects her artistic evolution and global aspirations. Here you can learn more about the project
